How do you take Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Retatrutid?
All of these drugs are administered through subcutaneous injection, which means that the drug is injected under the skin instead of into a muscle or vein.
This method is often used for hormones and insulin because it provides a slower and more controlled release into the body. The injection is usually very mild and almost painless.
How to give a subcutaneous injection
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry.
- Prepare the syringe by measuring out the correct dose.
- Gently pinch the skin between your thumb and index finger to create a skin fold.
- Carefully insert the needle into the skin, either in 45° or 90° angle.
- Slowly push down the plunger to inject the medicine.
- Pull out the needle and gently press the area with a clean cotton swab if necessary.
After the injection, you can continue with your day as usual.
